Thursday, the 5th of December, saw the official opening of a new banking hub on Cheadle High Street. Deputy Mayor Kate Mills is pictured above cutting the opening ceremony ribbon.
The move from Lulworth House was facilitated by Richard Booth of Cash Access, who located the new premises and managed the whole project. The Banking Hub managers, Jane and Tim, told COGNEWS that they are really happy with the results. Jane explained that most customers come into the hub from personal recommendations, and they hope that is because they provide a friendly, helpful service. Many people still don't want to bank with their phones or computers, continued Jane.
The Banking Hub is a new addition to the previously overlooked area of the town, affected by a landslide a few years back, offering services to both the public and businesses. The Deputy Mayor expressed gratitude to those involved in establishing the hub and their continued efforts to ensure cash access for everyone. She also commended the Post Office for supplying tills, terminals, signage, and the counter and facilities for the town.
The hub will be hosting a number of events throughout 2025, starting with a fraud prevention session with the police force. The bank will be run mostly by four ladies: Jane, Linda, Louise, and Debs—providing a warm welcome to all. The banking hub is very much part of our local community and is a COGNEWS host. Following the closure of two banks in the last three years, it's good news that we have a new hub for our town.
