For some time now a much loved walking route in the north part of Cheadle was not accessible. Cheadle's number 38 footpath from Tay Close to open farm land was not passible due to the overgrowth of vegetation blocking the way.
Two of our local community groups Cheadle Lions and U3A stepped in to solve the problem. Andrew and Bernard from Cheadle Lions with Alan, Phil and Lynn from U3A's walking group worked tirelessly with electric battery strimers, cutters and shears to clear the overgrowth 300metre stretch. They achieved a fine result in about two hours. They were met by two Cheadle newcomers and their dog exploring the freshly re-opened path who reassured the group of a job very well done and fit for a purpose. The lower leg of a classic Cheadle walk around Woodheadhall Farm is now back open thanks to these helpful Cheadle residents.
This path will now be kept open by by Staffordshire County Council's maintenance team and as many people as possible using the path which discourages foliage from taking over.
