Tean Road Memorial Ground was filled with exciting activities for the 2024 Party in the Park recently. This event has taken place every August for the past 16 years and is organised by Cheadle Town Council. It's a joyful coming together of Cheadle residents, organisations, local businesses and an opportunity to present Cheadle to its many visitors too.

The Girl Guides showcased their amazing work, not only have they raised £25,000 to build a church in Kenya, but the adults are now going out to Kenya to repaint 8 classrooms too.

Cheadle Archery Club - hit a bullseye with a successful session at Party in the Park

Cheadle is a town of dog lovers, and one successful event was dominated by wagging tails. The Annual Dog Show, judged by local vet Bruce Barker from Rogers, Brock & Barker, resulted in some handsome and obedient pooches proudly displaying their rosettes.

Cheadle Allotments Bottle Tombola was a smash hit and was quickly sold out.

The Cheadle Lions always run their magnificent steam locomotive at Party in the Park. Services were delayed after an unknown fault but they did deliver all passengers safely home . Money was still raised for their chosen charities and they also had a stall where prizes were won.

The COGNEWS stand was very busy throughout the day, as we chatted to community organisations and residents strengthening those community connections and enjoying a wonderful variety of music and coverage by Churnet Sounds Radio
There was a lovely mix of charity and commercial stalls, refreshments, live music, and many activities. This included our hard working Mayor Paulette Upton, who ran her own stall collecting money for her charities, Equal base and District Food Bank. The weather was kind to us and a great day was enjoyed by the Town.

Although there is always a cost to put on events, many activities were free thanks to sponsorship by Cheadle Town Council, JCB, AA Silencers, and MJS Transport, etc. We'd like to thank Our Town Mayor Paulette Upton and District Council Leader, Ian Plant, for their ongoing commitment to organising this event, despite having many other commitments this year themselves, as they represent Cheadle locally, and throughout the district. They were ably supported by a few district Councillors, but if we wish for this event to continue, more Councillor support is needed to ensure this event can carry on for at least another 16 years.
