Street Cleaning is really important, a clean street keeps our neighbourhood prettier and safer too. It's especially important that gulleys - those areas which enable excess water to disappear down into grids, are kept clear.
One controversial concern is the use of chemicals to kill weeds, we recently learned that although it is more time consuming to clear street weeds without chemicals, it is safer for our animals and our environment too not to use them.
There are a few things we can do to keep our streets cleaner.
Dispose of litter safely, use a bin or take it home with you. If a bin is full or missing from a key area, report it.
Clear the street weeds from around your own property if you can do so safely, and remove the dust before it can become silt.
Organise a litter pick or report where one is needed.
This recent post from SMDC shows their efforts in clearing weeds and how you can report street cleaning needs for Cheadle district as well as Leek.

Our teams work hard to keep our neighbourhoods clear of litter and debris.
