Until quite recently, Cheadle Town Centre has been left without much support from our local authorities. A few years ago, there used to be a Town Centre Co-ordinator, a local lady who knew everyone and had the skills and connections to help our ailing high street. Cheadle should be a tourist destination; it's a large town too, and with high street pressures at an all-time high, help is needed now more than ever.

Repeatedly told there was no budget available, a lack of general connectivity encouraged a few town councillors to establish a group to support not only our local businesses but tourism and the environment too. Whilst budgets and prospects may or may not have improved, the appetite within our smallest local government has.
Established by Chair Councillor Paul Keeling, himself a Cheadle High Street business owner, BTEC (Business, Tourism and Environment Committee) continues to strive for our local community. They've recently celebrated their first anniversary. Experiencing many of the same frustrations and pushbacks that our town has faced for years, this group is made up of councillors who are either local business owners themselves (with lived experiences), passionate about our planet, or focused on attracting more visitors to see Cheadle. They are not prepared to settle and wish to encourage local businesses to get in touch so that they may help with the issues you're facing.
How to Connect
They meet on the last Monday of the month, every other month, and when necessary. Attendance by local businesses is welcome but should be by prior arrangement to allow some research to take place first. You can bring local business matters to the attention of this group for support and waymaking. Our editor, Lori Wood Williams, is a member of this committee and is always happy to chat with local businesses confidentially.
