Winter Vehicle Security Reminder

  • Oct 29
  • 1 min read

As colder mornings set in, many of us are tempted to leave the car running to defrost while we stay warm indoors — but doing so makes your vehicle an easy target for thieves.

Winter Vehicle Security Reminder

Every winter, cars are stolen across Staffordshire in this way, a crime known as “frost-jacking.”

Please remember:

  • Never leave your vehicle running and unattended — even for a moment.

  • Stay with your car while it defrosts; it only takes seconds for a thief to drive away.

  • Always keep your vehicle locked and valuables out of sight.

  • Use an ice scraper or de-icer spray instead of idling the engine.

If you see suspicious activity, report it on 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-emergencies.

You can also give information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
