Major Improvements to Staffordshire Moorlands Roads Underway

Crews continue to make repairs and improvements throughout the Moorlands in the coming weeks and months.

The following works and improvements are due to take place:

Pothole News

Crews will also be out dealing with the backlog of lower-level potholes that are being seen around the county. While the most serious defects are repaired within 24 hours or seven days depending on their severity, lower-level potholes can take longer. And, with machines such as the JCB Pothole Pro, Thermal Road repairs and our velocity patcher, residents should see more defects repaired over the coming months.

Leek improvements begun

A series of highways improvements across Leek are in progress and are due to be completed in late April. Having started earlier this month (March 2026), highways crews are carrying out the nighttime works on roads across the town.

Work being undertaken includes preparatory works and repairs ahead of a preventative treatment for the roads scheduled for next year. To make sure the improvements can be carried out safely, a combination of temporary overnight road closures and traffic lights are in operation.

Overnight closures start at 8pm until 6am the following morning. Signed diversions will be in place as required and access for residents will be maintained wherever possible.
