Coming to Bolton Gate Arts, Saturday 16th August 2025, 2.30pm
This weekend with summer in full throttle what better time to strap on those ruby slippers and take to the Yellow Brick Road. Acclaimed theatre company, Paperback, is taking a troupe around the byways and highways of England to bring their zany adaptation of ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ to towns and villages in July and August.

This version of Oz follows the fortunes of Dot, a young Brummie in care, having relocated "Oz"
from Kansas to Birmingham. It takes the audience, along with the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow, on
a raucous exploration of what "home" really means.
The production is designed for all the family with music inspired by Midlands artists, including
UB40, Ozzy Osbourne, The Streets and Nick Drake. It is a truly magical and witty reimagining of
Birmingham as the Emerald City.
The show has been written and created by Paperback Theatre and was performed at Birmingham’s
Little but Live festival. It follows the success of their re-creation of Kenneth Grahame’s ‘The Wind in
the Willows’ which also became a national tour.
