Local Police are aware of ongoing issues in and around Cheadle involving anti‑social and dangerous riding on scrambler bikes, off‑road bikes, mopeds, scooters, and electric bikes and are making an appeal about anti-social and dangerous riding (ASB riding).
They are asking the community to help them by reporting specific details when riding is dangerous, illegal, or putting others at risk.
Examples of ASB riding include:
Riding with no helmets
Riding on the wrong side of the road, pavements, parks, or footpaths
Dangerous riding on bends or near pedestrians
Riders wearing balaclavas or face coverings to avoid identification
Riding in a way that causes fear, alarm, or serious safety concerns
If you report an incident, please include as much of the following as possible:
Exact location (street, junction, landmark)
Time and date
Direction of travel (for example: leaving Cheadle towards Blythe, Tean, Alton, etc.)
Type of bike (scrambler, off‑road, moped, e‑bike, scooter)
Bike colour(s) and whether it had a number plate
Number of riders/passengers
Rider or passenger descriptions (clothing, helmets/face coverings)
What the rider was doing that made it anti‑social or dangerous
When to report
Call 999 immediately if there is an immediate danger, a near‑miss, a collision, or someone is at risk of being seriously injured.
Call 101 or report online for ongoing or repeat ASB riding where there is no immediate threat, but behaviour is dangerous or causing concern.
Your information helps build a clearer picture of where, when, and how this riding is happening, so police can target patrols, improve safety, and take appropriate action.
If you have any further information, patterns you’ve noticed, or locations where this type of riding regularly occurs, please report it with as much detail as possible.
Help to keep Cheadle Safe for Everyone
