From The Editor: My rollercoaster Week...

This week has been a rollercoaster for me, with lots of meetings about tourism and the wonderful plans for South Moorlands, versus the white-knuckle ride of getting our print out. Thanks to yet more changes to the template we have to use for it to comply with production, and a realisation by the manufacturer (prompted by my discovery) that if used, it would print everything out of order and cut pages. I've been burning the midnight oil writing my own, which will make it easier to print but harder to do the digital download, which after many months we've just got right (shakes head and sighs).
Anyway, on the positive side, the new tourism map, absent for 2 years, is now back. So if you have visiting friends and family, be sure to pick one up. Please contact me if you're struggling to find one yet.
If you have visitors through your doors at work, please drop me a line so that we can arrange a regular drop-off for you. The other good news is that the Staffordshire Moorlands tourist destination site is now live, with a glorious new logo and QR code, which you'll start to see everywhere, answering everyone's question, "What is there to do here?"

The answer to that is quite a lot, more than most, and pretty much everything you could want in an inland visit. We have festivals, a racecourse, several theme parks, two wildlife parks, ice skating, roller skating, bike and walking trails, swimming (including wild swimming), world-class golf and top-notch crazy golf, rock climbing, archery, laser tag, open gardens, garden centres, farm shops, creameries, ice cream parlours, creative centres, spas, and horse riding. Award-winning restaurants, butchers, bakers, and yes, even candle makers. Oh, and be sure to check out the (Butchers or Bakers Arms). There are farmers' markets, makers' markets, vintage markets, market crosses, auction houses, and car boots. There's soft play, wild play, creative play, outdoor play, and children's theatre.
You'll see much more about our amazing visitor spaces in the coming months here at COGNEWS and everywhere you go, thanks to the amazing work by our strong tourism teams, all working together to ensure as many people as possible know how brilliant Staffordshire is to visit.

Don't miss: Wallabies have arrived across 10 sites in the Moorlands for their summer staycation. Do visit as many as you can and take a picture or video to share on your socials. This really helps our visitor numbers and is just plain good fun
The space program for local kids is now live, there's funding for training, investment and carbon footprint reduction and much more, we'll keep sharing as it comes in, and if you have a couple of hours to spare to help us in our quest, you'll be very welcome at the COG Cabin.
I'm loving life in Cheadle, hope you are too!
