COGNEWS can confirm that the Cheadle Market Clock has been saved from extinction for the second time and can be reinstalled on our market building as soon as the district council is prepared.
This British-made timepiece has been restored by Ken Riley, the town's watchmaker, and has been stored by him since the district council renovated the market in the 2000s when Ken rescued the timepiece from a skip. The clock, crafted by Gent, a renowned British manufacturer of electrical equipment and timepieces established in 1872, is radio-controlled for precise accuracy.
The Lions rescued the Market Square clock from Ken's watchmaker and jewellery store basement.

It is believed to now reside in the Lions Lair a secret location for the precious timepiece. It is hoped that the Clock will be installed in its proper location after the Market Square upgrade so that the people of Cheadle will be able to view another piece of our heritage.
