Both SMDC and Staffordshire County Council have indicated that they are looking to bring forward the proposal for a new primary school in the north east ward of Cheadle outlined as part of the Potteries Garden development. Land has been ear marked and gifted by developer along with a sizable amount of money for the project COGNEWS was informed.
Rachel Reeves an officer at Staffordshire County Council said this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build schools in our community and provide much needed education facilities in the area of the town where the bulk of the new family homes have been recently built. The COGNEWS team will continue to push for this vital addition to our town and urge residents to do the same.
Town Councillors Bernie Charlesworth and Lori Wood Williams along with COGNEW's political correspondent Alan Thomas will continue to ask for updates from both councils to keep the town's people updated and to ensure that the education department secures the government funds needed to supplement the section 106 money committed to the project by SMDC.
We look forward to a bright future for our youngest residents and their families in the not so distant future.
