Upcoming works

Updated: Mar 2

From Staffordshire County Council:

Upcoming works

We’re carrying out repairs and improvements right across the district over the coming weeks - making a difference to communities across Staffordshire Moorlands.

This usually includes surfacing and repairs to the road, footways and kerbs, signals and sometimes replacing manhole covers and grids too. Repairs are scheduled as part of our annual programme, or they can be priorities put forward by your local county councillor. While work takes place we do unfortunately need to put temporary short-term closures in place, so we’d ask you to bear with us during these times.

The following improvements are due to take place:

  • Multiple repairs on the Buxton Road/Stockwell Street junction in Leek from 24 February to 7 March. Work will include fixing potholes and footpaths, repairs and replacement of damaged kerbs and ironworks, clearing drains, verge and ditch clearance and updating signs.

  • The annual resurfacing program which starts towards the end of march will see work across the district including on Ball Haye Road, Vicarage Road, Haregate Road, Park Road and Horsecroft Crescent all in Leek.

Other non-council works include:

  • Derbyshire County Council are delivering a large scheme in Ashbourne from 11 March until September. The diversion during the works is via Leek and we’ll be working closely with them to help minimise any disruption.

National Grid have started planning some small works as part of an upgrade programme in Cheadle. The work is likely to take around eight weeks and will start in June.

From County Councillor Keith Flunder

Cabinet Support Member for Highways North

We are delivering a huge programme of road repairs and improvements across the county over the next year and I’d  like to thank people for their patience whilst these important works take place.

We know that  road works can cause inconvenience but they are really vital to maintain and improve our highways network. Please be assured that our crews will continue to do their best to reduce disruption as much as possible.

I also want to reassure people that I continue to play an active role in the community, listening to people’s concerns and making people aware of the County Council’s investment and priorities around highways.  This also includes working closely with local parish councils to make sure that their concerns are also being dealt with.
