Â
Cheadle Flower Club hosted their annual Christmas demonstration evening at Wellspring Methodist Church, where Chairman Sheila greeted a wonderfully large audience and introduced our demonstrator, Beverley Artis, a freelance florist and demonstrator from Derby.Â
Beverley's theme was 'Step into Christmas,' and she began the evening with a large Santa boot to hold the arrangement. Using Christmas tree foliage, ilex berries, red amaryllis, white lilies, paper white narcissus, Christmas baubles, and dried oranges, she created an absolutely stunning Christmas display, adding a second boot alongside.
Â
The second arrangement resembled a Christmas topiary tree, featuring Christmas tree foliage and pine at the base with double red amaryllis for height. Cones, silver baubles, and beautiful copper-coloured asparagus fern enhanced this amazing alternative to a Christmas tree, with Beverley presenting a second identical 'tree' to accompany it.
Beverley then used a large gold shell for the display, incorporating laurel, pine, gold-sprayed Fatsia leaves, and beautiful white and beige roses with reflexed petals for a unique shape. Three candles were added, and a second 'shell' was placed alongside to create a lovely display.
    Â
The next arrangement featured a long hollow log with moss around the edge and a fence made from cinnamon sticks. This wonderful display included small green anthurium, rose hips, and grass seed heads.Â
   Â
An 'oasis free' theme inspired the next presentation. Beverley used a large glass vase with contorted willow to outline and anchor the added flowers of grevillea, burgundy amaryllis, and red gerbera, offering a lovely idea for the dining table at Christmas.
The final arrangement was a pedestal created on a tall silver bowl. Beverley added laurel, pine, silver-sprayed Fatsia leaves, ilex berries, red amaryllis, small oriental lilies, silver asparagus fern, and a beautiful orchid, completing an amazing and beautiful arrangement that concluded the wonderful presentation.
    Â
Sadly, this year the club lost its president, Cynthia Brassington, but they were fortunate and honoured to have her husband Morris and daughter Jane in the audience.Â
    Â
Jane expressed gratitude to Beverley for a wonderful evening, stating how honoured she was to be there on such a fabulous night, and thanked Beverley for sharing her floristry stories and helping everyone take the first 'step into Christmas.'
The arrangements were raffled off and won by very lucky members and visitors.

The Club's next meeting will be the AGM and social evening on 15th January 2025 at 7.30 pm at The Oakley Room, Cheadle Guildhall. Everyone is warmly invited to attend and can expect a warm welcome.
