The Enigma of Cheadle Hospital Revealed

Cheadle Hospital can seem unfamiliar to local residents, appearing remote, sometimes even reported as closed. Nothing could be further from the truth. On a recent medical visit, our editor caught up with Sharon Egerton, who told COGNEWS about the amazing services provided by our very own local hospital.

Cheadle Hospital is located on the west side of town, tucked away between St. Giles RC and the Manor Hotel, and is very much still open. There are no A&E facilities here or other services that create a high volume of footfall and therefore visibility to the public, such as X-ray.
Cheadle Hospital's work is vital to our town and the Moorlands as a whole. It provides a home to the Moorlands District Nursing Team and the MPFT Research Unit, both of whom go out into communities across the region. The two wards at the hospital provide backup facilities for other hospitals, such as the Haywood Hospital in Burslem, and are currently fully used. This allows our region to respond when demand is high and step down when not required, while other floors there remain fully in use.
A whole floor at the hospital is dedicated to outpatients such as:
Physiotherapy - adult and paediatric
Neurology
Talking Therapies
Midwives
Health Visitors
Diabetic Eye Screening
INR Clinic
Appointments are by referral only, and anyone who visits the hospital will find it a pleasant, clean space with vending machines, a mini library, and a water cooler. It is approached by a lovely garden area, with easy parking and a newly painted seating area. It's a very pleasant space, and the staff are kind and helpful.
