This week, the Staffordshire Commissioner’s Office is supporting Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week (29 June-5 July). With the theme of ‘Making Communities Safer’, the week encourages communities to take a stand against ASB and highlights the actions those experiencing it can take.

In Staffordshire:

  • Community Safety Partnerships, supported by funding from the Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime, work alongside Police and local authorities to tackle ASB through initiatives, education and prevention.

  • 53 additional neighbourhood policing officers have been funded through the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, tackling ASB, retail crime and community priorities with increased visible patrols in town centres and crime hotspots.

  • As part of this problem-solving approach, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service is working with Police to share information about repeat locations for ASB fires, to allow both services to focus their activity on known hotspots.

Support is available for victims of ASB, including:

  • ASB Harmony: commissioned by the Staffordshire Commissioner, this free and confidential service provides practical and emotional support to people experiencing ASB, whether they choose to report incidents to the Police or not. Last year, the service received 423 referrals from people seeking support. Contact Harmony on 0330 1757 258 (general helpline) or 0808 16 89 111 (out of hours support), or email harmony@victimsupport.org.uk

  • ASB Case Review: a tool which allows victims to request action if they have reported multiple incidents of ASB but are unhappy with the response they received

To report an incident of ASB, call Staffordshire Police on 101 or visit: Report antisocial behaviour | Staffordshire Police
