A shoplifter who breached his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on numerous occasions has been jailed. Lee Beard, 52, of Leek, took nearly £100-worth of goods from the Aldi and Co-op in Leek earlier this month. He was banned from going into both of the stores as part of a CBO that was served to help combat his offending.

When officers looked at CCTV from both of the thefts, they identified Beard as the suspect and moved quickly to arrest him yesterday (Thursday 14 August).
He appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre today (Friday 15 August), he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop and two counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order. He was sentenced on the same day to 14-weeks imprisonment and was ordered to pay £154 in costs.
Problem Solving PC Naomi Kramarczyk, from the Moorlands local policing team, said: “We’re determined to work proactively with retailers and businesses owners in the local area to stop prolific shoplifters from causing harm.
“We’re going to continue using all of the tools at our disposal to protect retailers from financial harm and to prevent theft from happening, both with the use of criminal behaviour orders and any subsequent enforcement action if individuals fail to comply with requirements.”
As part of our ongoing problem solving policing patrols, we’re putting officers on the beat proactively in order to tackle key community priorities, such as anti-social behaviour, serious violence and theft.
