Do you remember watching a carnival parade? The thrill of witnessing the stunning floats, costumed walkers, bands, and a variety of other entertainers?

The Carnival Committee, since its reemergence, has done some amazing work for our town in bringing us together for a weekend-long event taking place on Tean Road Recreation Ground and running some great fundraising events like the car show.

The committee need to give the parade a reboot and get more people involved. Creating a parade is a time-consuming process with many volunteers needed to pull together costumes, dance, music, and for many, the star attraction, the floats.

The committee is determined to recapture those special days for a modern generation, bring that feeling back, and be proud of our community! Expressions of interest in floats for the 2026 carnival are now open, with the committee actively seeking organisations to design and build a carnival float for the 2026 parade.

To enable as many organisations and clubs as possible to get involved, there is an open afternoon

at The Tudor House, High Street, Cheadle on Saturday, 27th September, 1:00 – 3:00 pm to talk about how you can turn an idea into a fun float or other parade component.

The theme for the carnival parade 2026 is summer/beach/holidays, so there are lots of topics for groups to choose from. On hand will be Dee at Redeezine and other creative people to help you develop your ideas.

A series of monthly workshops up to January 2026 will then take place to enable groups to put their ideas into practice and start to create their own float.

Cheadle's Carnival Parade was special, delighting visitors and residents alike, giving local people an opportunity to showcase their talents and share in their community. Strangers became neighbours, and neighbours became friends.

There may be some assistance for funding materials and help to source a suitable vehicle.

Floats don't need to be large; small vehicles can be decorated, and the committee has lots of ideas for those who need them.

This is a great way to showcase what you do to the wider world and come together as a community. Everyone is welcome.
