Last week, a resident of Froghall Road was bitten by a German Shepherd dog while collecting his morning newspaper from A&C Stores. It was still quite dark when the incident happened.

The resident was very shocked by the incident particularly because the dog was on a lead. He didn’t expect it to jump up and bite him. The owner of the dog was very apologetic.
The gentleman’s arm was so badly bitten by the dog that the hospital was not sure if stitches could close the wound. Having been transferred to another hospital, the wound was successfully closed.
We understand that he is recovering well and that the incident has been reported to the police. He has been contacted by the trauma team also.
It's very unusual for a German Shepherd to behave in that way - they are used in many types of work, including disability assistance, search-and-rescue, police work, and warfare.
