The Health and Safety Executive has launched a series of easy-read guides to help support disabled workers and workers with long-term health conditions. Easy Read is a way of making written information easier to understand by using simple language, short sentences, and clear images to help explain content.

It is increasingly used to help people who have a learning disability and can also be useful for people who speak English as a second language.
HSE have added 6 easy read guides to their disabled workers guidance. These guides can:
support disabled workers and workers with long-term health conditions to get into and stay in work
provide advice on how managers can create a supportive workplace
The easy read guides complement their existing talking toolkit which supports managers to structure conversations with disabled workers and help create an inclusive approach to workplace health.
The first easy read guide goes through the law and people’s rights as disabled workers.
The other 5 easy read guides go through conversations, based on the existing talking toolkit. Conversations include:
helping workers and managers take an inclusive approach to workplace health
understanding the work barriers that impact on workers
making reasonable workplace adjustments
