High Street Footpath closed without notice

If you’re venturing down into Cheadle today please be aware that the walkway between the Card Factory and Coral is blocked by a commercial rubbish bin from the High Street end and with tape at the car park end.
We couldn’t see a footpath closure notice and asked the scaffolder if they had one. We were told that they had, but they’d forgotten to bring it. Further investigations revealed that their telephone number on the flatbed trucks doesn’t work and we rang several companies of the same name all of whom said it was nothing to do with them. We ventured into Coral whose building is having the scaffolding fitted and the confirmed that there was going to be some work going on, when I asked for the number for head office who would’ve arranged the work I was told that they wouldn’t be able to give that out.
What enrages us about this is that without the footpath closure notice present any insurance for the work being carried out would be invalid and a potential injury to the public where no signs are present is a risk to public health.
