Lucky Leek Residents Win Community Lottery Jackpot

A lucky Leek resident has won the jackpot in the Staffordshire Moorlands Community Lottery. The winner, who wishes to be identified only as Kevin, won the top prize of £25,000 in a recent draw.

Describing it as a “shock at first,” he said he chose to play the Community Lottery because: “The principle of supporting causes that are more locally based to the area I live in is something I like the idea of. In this way, I know financial support is directed to my local community, whether that is charities or projects that I’m more likely to see some benefit from."
“The nice thing is we don’t need to think about spending the winnings as it’s a bonus to be enjoyed. Whilst the winnings might not be life-changing, they are a great opportunity for a bit of luxury or a treat from time to time, which will make it a rather memorable and special year for us. Plus, we’ll no doubt also give a small amount to a local charity or the church."
“We’ve never won a thing, so it can happen, but you’ve got to be in it to win it. So I would encourage everyone to get yourself in, even if it’s only one number, and you too could be a winner. Plus, it’s reassuring to know your money is helping your community.”
Staffordshire Moorlands Community Lottery is an online weekly lottery drawn at 8 p.m. every Saturday. Tickets cost £1, and all funds raised go to good causes that benefit the local community in the Moorlands.
Players can choose a specific good cause to support, or they can support the Lottery Central Fund, which is distributed to the community by a committee.
