The 18th of September saw business support organisations join together at Wellspring Methodist Church to support local businesses and get the help they need to thrive and grow.

The pop-up event was organised by Mark Brammer of Brammer Associates on behalf of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce and fully funded by Staffordshire County Council.

Wellspring is fast becoming Cheadle's go-to venue for all kinds of activities; the layout and flowing tea and coffee really helped the networking vibe.

On offer was support from Sben, FSB, SMDC, County Council, Stafford Chambers of Commerce, Next GEN, COGNEWS, and many more.

Exhibitors agreed the event was a great success, although it would’ve been brilliant to see more businesses come along to take advantage of what was on offer.

Mark Brammer told COGNEWS that it was rare for us to be able to get an event of this calibre organised in Cheadle, and hoped that we could perhaps find a way to make it a regular event.

COGNEWS directors Lori & Bernie witnessed collaborations happening and businesses getting the help they need in an informal way.

County Councillor Leader Ian Cooper attended the event, and the advice and support extend beyond by calling the Staffordshire support helpline. Local businesses and those looking to start a business can access many of the services that were available today via the helpline.

Lori Wood Williams, chair of Cheadle Town Council’s Business Tourism and Environment Committee (BTEC), said, "This was a great start for Cheadle businesses in working together to help the growth of the local economy. Having improved business means improved jobs, a better visitor economy, and more prosperity for the town.

This is the type of event that Cheadle needs, and I too would like to see something like this happening regularly so that we can support our local businesses on their journey."
