A crossroad in Cheadle has been changed from a ‘give way’ to a ‘stop’ junction after safety concerns were raised by the local community.
A highways scheme to carry out road repairs and improve safety at the Draycott Cross Road junction with the A521 Delphouse Road completed on Friday 21 November.

The work, which took five days to complete, saw crews patching up potholes and carrying out repairs to footways and kerbs. They also used jets to clear out all the drains in the area to help prevent flooding in the area when the winter weather hits.
The previously ‘give way’ junction was also changed to a ‘stop’ junction, with new 'stop' signs and ‘advance warning signs’ installed and road markings updated.
It is hoped that these improvements will make the junction safer and give reassurance to the local community.
As a separate phase of work planned for next year, SCC also looking into reducing the speed limit to 30mph on both Brookhouse Road and Draycott Cross Road and extend the existing 30mph limit on the A521 Delphouse Road further west.
