Creative Cheadle at Peterborough Cathedral

Creative Cheadle has created a panel that has been unveiled alongside 22 others from across the country at Peterborough Cathedral. Hundreds of people have knitted and crocheted 45,000 poppies onto cascades, which have been made into a curtain to remember the fallen in both wars.

The exhibition is part of The Longest Yarn II: Britain at War, with all proceeds raised going towards the upkeep of the cathedral and selected armed forces charities.

The journey began when one of the organisers approached Creative Cheadle lead Dee Beardmore during a visit to the Longest Yarn at Greatwood Hall in Tean. The group was asked if they would be willing to take on the mammoth challenge of creating a 1m x 5m panel featuring more than 1,500 flowers & flags.

"What followed was a fantastic team effort." Said Dee "Everyone has been amazing – knitters, crocheters, stitchers, and of course the all-important tea makers! Every contribution has helped bring this incredible project to life."
