Wednesday, 21st May, saw an established theatre company Lucid Spark take root in Cheadle. They are situated in an idyllic woodland setting at their new home beside Arbour Farm, aptly located on The Green in Cheadle.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" was selected for the evening, a cherished Shakespearean comedy centered around the miscommunication of love, featuring bursts of jealousy, rage, and cunning deeds.

The small group of talented actors entertained and delighted the audience as characters attempted to control the course of love, proving that the path of true love is never smooth, all set in a real forest—the intended setting of the original play.

Completely in the open air, we were informed that the play would proceed regardless of the weather, so we came prepared. Fortunately, the evening was dry and bright. Many brought folding chairs, snacks, and drinks, and the audience connected not only with the performers but with each other as well.

The setting for this play was unmatched, with magnificent mature trees and a giant log pile providing the most authentic atmosphere.

As soon as we arrived at Arbour Farm, uncertain of our destination or what awaited us, we were greeted with warmth and entertainment, experiencing a camaraderie and anticipation that is difficult to achieve even in the most impressive theatrical environments.

The Lucid Spark players came together as a company after meeting at university during a module that required them to create a theatre group. Recognising their desire to continue, they have been performing together for a few years, including with the RSC, and are excited to offer more entertainment as they grow in their new permanent location.

It made for one of the most relaxed and enjoyable evenings I've experienced and incredible value too.

We hope for their success and eagerly anticipate how they will introduce more theatrical arts to the residents and visitors of Staffordshire Moorlands.
