Wednesday, 21st May, saw an established theatre company, Lucid Spark, take root in Cheadle. They are situated in an idyllic woodland setting at their new home beside Arbour Farm, aptly located on The Green in Cheadle.

A Magical Evening of Theatre

On this beautiful evening, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was selected for the performance. This cherished Shakespearean comedy centers around the miscommunication of love. It weaves together themes of jealousy, rage, and cleverness.

The talented actors successfully entertained the audience. They took us on a journey where love guided the characters at every turn. As we watched, it became clear that the path of true love is anything but smooth. The performance's setting—a real forest—echoed the original atmosphere envisioned by Shakespeare.

An Unforgettable Setting

This outdoor experience was unique in every sense. Audience members were informed that the play would continue regardless of the weather. We arrived prepared for anything. Luckily, the evening was dry and bright. Many attendees brought folding chairs, snacks, and drinks. This not only created a relaxed atmosphere but also encouraged connections amongst the audience.

The enchanting woodland provided an unmatched backdrop. With magnificent mature trees surrounding the stage and a giant log pile nearby, the environment was perfect for Shakespeare’s poetic tales.

A Warm Welcome

Upon arriving at Arbour Farm, there was a sense of uncertainty about what awaited us. However, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The camaraderie in the air was palpable and reminiscent of the best theatrical environments.

After they met in university, Lucid Spark's actors formed a close-knit company. They began their journey during a module that required them to create a theatre group. Recognizing their shared passion, they committed to performing together. Their experience includes collaborations with the RSC, boosting their credibility and reputation. Now, they are excited to offer more theatrical performances in their permanent location.

The Value of Community Theatre

It was one of the most relaxed and enjoyable evenings I have ever experienced. The value of attending such a local performance cannot be overstated. The interactions with the actors and other audience members created a vibrant energy, enhancing the overall experience.

Supporting local theatre is vital. It fosters community spirit and encourages creative expression. Furthermore, it provides opportunities for budding actors and actresses to develop their talents in nurturing environments.

We have high hopes for the continued success of Lucid Spark. We look forward to what they have in store for us in the future. Their dedication to providing rich theatrical experiences will undoubtedly contribute to the cultural fabric of Staffordshire Moorlands.
