Cheadle Community Library is to host Cheadle’s very first Book Festival. The Book Festival promises to be a great day out for all the family and is completely free - including refreshments.

Karen told COGNEWS, “We are delighted to welcome families and special guests to our festival. As well as local author talks, we have a wide range of activities throughout the day in different parts of the library.
"These include children’s storytelling, children’s fancy dress box, a book swap, a quiz for adults – Guess the Author, the Never-Ending Story, and favorite children’s book.”
David Cliffe Local Author: Fact to Fiction

A talk about David's background as a journalist and how his interest in local history, and in particular, local photography, led him to fiction writing. He describes how he went about it, and his experiences with self-publishing and marketing. David’s books are crime stories set in Leek.
Lisa Blower - Local Author Talk
PM

Lisa is a highly acclaimed novelist, playwright, short story fanatic, and advocate for the regional voice. A voracious reader, she’s been hailed by Kit De Waal as the “natural heir to Arnold Bennett” and often pays homage to The Potteries where she grew up.
Her recognitions include: Winner of the 2025 VS Pritchett Short Story Prize, The Guardian’s National Short Story Prize, and the 2020 Arnold Bennett Prize.
Children’s Story Telling with Stephen Haines
Am and pm sessions
Children’s storytelling with Stephen Haines, the well-known local actor from C.A.T.S.
Emily’s Book Bindery
A bookbinding demonstration with a chance to try some simple tasks for yourself.
Poetry, Pictures and Prosecco Evening
7-9pm

A very special finale - an entertaining poetry evening with ex-Staffordshire Poet Laureate, Dawn Jutton. A talented poet and photographer, Dawn will run a workshop to find the creativity in you - even for absolute beginners. This is a strictly ticketed event and places are limited.
Tickets cost £5.00 and are available from the library reception desk. The cost includes a drink and nibbles.
About Cheadle Library
Car Parking: Parking is available in the Short Stay (Tape Street) and Long Stay (Well Street) car parks, depending on the length of your visit. The library is a short walk from the High Street. (Parking is free after 3 pm in the Short Stay car park).
Facilities: Toilet and baby changing facilities are available in the library. A hearing loop system is also installed to support those with hearing issues. A lift is available.
