Introducing You’ve Been Cogged!

"You've been Cogged!" is a peek into someone else's world. It's something the team at COG has the opportunity to do on a regular basis, and hearing those stories, appreciating the work and life of the person, celebrating them even, is something we're honoured to be able to do.

We've worked together to create a new segment focusing on the role individual people play in their local communities, often unheard but essential for the mechanism to work, just like the humble COG. We wanted to tell their stories, talk about what matters to them, and appreciate, celebrate even, the vital role they play locally.

Some will have taken up the baton because no one else did, some will have picked it up from someone else, and still more will simply be doing what they know and love. Whatever their reason, we want to showcase the role they play, appreciating and celebrating even the part of their life they want to share. So if you know someone who sprang to mind when you read this - you can nominate them to be cogged!

We chose our name COG because we saw ourselves as a part of something bigger, something which could create amazing things. It's also an acronym for Community Organisations Group, and our purpose is to connect community - organisation - people. When a mechanism moves in unison, it can produce amazingly more things than it could ever imagine alone.

Here's how it works

You fill in the form below with your name, address, contact telephone, and email (if you have one).

Tell us about your friend or colleague, the role they play, and their details. Everything is completely confidential until we publish.

We'll contact them to see if the idea appeals; if it does, we'll call them in for an easy interview and ask about 10 questions, which they will see before they come to help them prepare. We'll then use their best bits to produce a little write-up with a photo and share their answers and information about their work with the wider world and possibly an audio clip too.

There will also be a souvenir for participants and a private thank you note from us for the nominee, who will remain anonymous throughout the process—so no awkward conversations!

AND THE BENEFIT?

The local community gets to hear about the lives of those local people who make a difference. It might inspire, bring hope and get more people involved in your nominees special cause. You're nominee will recieve some free publicity for their work and you will have the secret satisfaction of knowing you made a difference too.
