National Grid will be starting a programme of work to improve Leek’s electricity infrastructure at the end of this month.

The first element of these essential works will start at High Street car park on Monday 27 October and will be finished by Wednesday 5 November. The car park will need to be closed whilst the work takes place.

Councillor Charlotte Atkins, Cabinet Member for Services at the District Council, said: “National Grid need to carry out these works to support Leek’s ongoing energy needs. That does mean the short, temporary closure of the car park at High Street is necessary.

“The car park will re-open again once these initial works are finished and I’d like to thank people for their understanding and patience.”

Information about car parks in Leek is available on the Council’s website.
