A consultation took place with youngsters and two town Councillors, Cllr Mills & Cllr Upton, at the Tean Road Recreation Ground on the 18th of June. This was to engage youngsters to have their say on the planned pump track, which is to be sited in the North ward on Churchill Road Recreation Ground. Also present was the developer responsible for the installation. COGNEWS went along to get the scoop.
COGNEWS was informed that the work would commence on the 22nd of June 2026. Either this is the most flexible installation that has ever been undertaken, or the decision on what was to be installed has already been decided. Cheadle Town Council have already told us that they planned to start the project as early as April, so it seems that the latter is more likely.
The track will be between 50 - 60 metres in length; this is to be the first phase of three developments. The track is purposely very tight so that only pedal bikes can use the facility. We were informed that there will be some new play equipment and that the final phase will be the building of a new toilet block.
We asked Councillor Upton if, following the recent vandalisation of Tean Road Recreation Ground toilets, what measures will be put in place to prevent vandalisation of Churchill Road Recreation Ground. She told us that she didn't know yet.
