Two teenage boys arrested following attempted burglary report

From the Staffordshire Smart Alert

We have arrested two teenage boys following an attempted burglary report in Cheadle.

A local police officer was approached by someone on Friday 4 October who reported that a group of young people had been spotted on CCTV trying to get inside a house near Rakeway Road at about 3am the same morning. Nothing was taken and the group ran away after seemingly being spooked during the act.

We started work straight away to investigate what happened and to track down the suspects. Two 16-year-old boys, from Stoke-on-Trent and Cheadle, have both been arrested today (Tuesday 5 November) on suspicion of burglary. They will be questioned in custody.

Anyone with any information that can help with our investigation is asked to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 524 of 4 October, or by using Live Chat on our website.

Inspector Karen Cooke, from the Moorlands local policing team, said: “Burglary, robbery and theft are crimes than can have lasting effects on victims, both financially and emotionally.  Local officers are compiling intelligence every single day to target those stealing from the communities as robustly as possible.”
