Safety advice for those who are planning to celebrate
If you’re going trick or treating, make sure to go in a group or with a responsible adult and only visit areas that are well lit, don’t take shortcuts through gardens, alleyways or parks
Only visit houses that are decorated and don’t knock if there is a sign saying ‘no trick or treat here’
If you’re wearing a mask, ensure that you can see where you’re going and are aware of your surroundings
Be aware of the law surrounding the appropriate use of fireworks; they can only be used by over 18s and only until midnight.
Staffordshire Police are urging parents to speak to their children about their safety, always know where they are, and educate them on the dangers of fireworks.
And for those who aren't celebrating
This time of year can be scary for those who live alone and the most vulnerable in our communities. If you would prefer not to take part in trick or treating you can place a sign in your window to make people aware. You can download Staffordshire Police's version here: No Trick or Treat sign.
eco tip: You can just print the first page and tick the grayscale button in your printer settings if you want to save ink.

Staffordshire Police are aware that some may use these events as an excuse for anti-social behaviour, and this will not be tolerated, they will take robust action against those responsible.
If you have any concerns about anti-social behaviour, you can report it by calling 101 or through Live Chat on their website.
