On Wednesday, the 26th of August the archway which has adorned the gates to Tean Road Recreation Ground for many years, finally returned home, fully restored.

The arch, the gates and the stone pillars were damaged several years ago when a wagon struck them.
This type of work is complex and specialist, even though it’s taken a long time, they are now back in pride of place, ready to welcome regular visitors and in time for the memorial activities on remembrance Sunday.
Cheadle Town Council Mayor told COGNEWS “ I’m over the moon to see the arch back, it’s been a very long process, but one that we were committed to achieving for the town.”
Lee Trumbull and blacksmith and mobile welding was responsible for the installation. He told us that the arch has been shot blasted, and had a specialist plain treatment which will mean it should last for years.
