Staffordshire Police:Road Safety Advice

Here are some important reminders to help protect pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers in our community:

For Drivers

• Stick to the speed limits – especially near schools and residential streets.

• Never use your phone while driving.

• Always check mirrors and blind spots for cyclists and motorbikes.

• Park considerately, leaving pavements clear for prams, wheelchairs, and mobility scooters.

  
  

For Pedestrians

• Use designated crossings whenever possible.

• Stay visible at night – wear reflective clothing or carry a torch.

• Teach children the Green Cross Code: Stop, Look, Listen, Think.

  
  

For Cyclists

• Wear a helmet and reflective gear.

• Use lights at night – it’s a legal requirement.

• Ride in a straight line and signal clearly when turning.

  
  

General Advice

• Slow down around schools, playgrounds, and busy pedestrian areas.

• Be patient – a few extra seconds can prevent serious accidents.

• Report dangerous driving to the police via 101 (non-emergency) or 999 if it’s urgent.
