Staffordshire Police have reached out with important advice to local residents to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime. The have issued the following advice:
1. Secure Your Home:
Lock Up: Always ensure that all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked when leaving your home, even if you're only stepping out for a short time.
Alarm Systems: If you have a burglar alarm, ensure it is in good working order. Consider installing motion-sensitive lighting around your property.
Smart Security: Consider installing CCTV cameras and smart doorbells. These devices can help deter criminals and provide valuable evidence if needed.
2. Car Crime Prevention:
Lock Vehicles: Always lock your car and ensure that valuables (e.g., bags, laptops, phones) are not left in sight.
Secure Parking: Park your vehicle in well-lit, busy areas or use secure garages where possible.
VIN Etching: Have your vehicle's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etched into windows or parts to make it easier to trace if stolen.
3. Preventing Theft in Public Places:
