Using documents from the Archive Collection PHD student Hannah Smith explored the connections between Staffordshire and Slavery.

Hannah said "My research looks at how individuals with Staffordshire connections owned plantations or carried out roles within the British government during colonial times. I also look at how the Staffordshire archives can be used to amplify the voices of formerly enslaved people. I hope my research contributes to a better understanding of how an inland area of the UK was involved with, and reaped benefit, from enslavement."
