A new immersive concert experience is to take place at St Giles the Abbot Church in Cheadle on Saturday 21 November, with performances at 7pm and 9pm. Peak Music will be hosting this event to launch St Giles After Dark: CINEMATIC.

Jarrod Ford Co-Founder of Peak Music told COGNEWS, "We've curated the evening around the theme of light, to follow on from this year's Christmas lights switch-on. We'll be transforming the church with hundreds of flickering candles, dramatic architectural lighting and beautiful live cinematic music, creating a really special atmosphere.

Peak Music will be making a donation to St Giles Church as part of an arrangement for using the building. "We want these events to help support the upkeep of this remarkable historic church while opening it up to new audiences. We're also working with the church towards bringing some of its historic upstairs rooms back into use for music education, rehearsals and other creative activities.

"It also feels like a lovely way to continue the festive spirit following the lights switch-on, bringing people together to experience one of the town's most beautiful historic buildings in a completely new light. We're passionate about bringing exciting cultural experiences right into the heart of Cheadle, giving local people the opportunity to enjoy something a little different without having to travel further afield."

How the project came about was back in July, when Jarrod was practicing on the church organ and piano late one evening before one of their summer concerts. The church was almost completely dark apart from a few stage lights illuminating the front. Looking out across the nave at the arches and pillars emerging from the shadows, he realized what an extraordinary setting it could be for an intimate evening concert.
