Lots to do at Cheadle U3A

Cheadle and district u3a is a membership organisation dedicated to helping local people live rich connected lives. A common misconception is that you have to be of a certain age to join, you don't but you shouldn't be in full-time work, this will enable you to get the most out of your membership by being able to dedicate a little time to life enriching activities. Members join annually, at a cost of £15 and if you want to join, you can visit the monthly coffee morning (date?) which will give you a flavour of what's in store or you can contact the membership secretary directly. Here's a closer look at what's in store for members this year.

Lots to do at Cheadle U3A

Classical Music Lounge - meeting weekly Wednesday March 5th: It's Not Spring yet, featuring Tchaikovsky's First Symphony

Conversational French - A new group Starting March 12th, welcoming mixed abilities. Sessions promise to be interesting and enjoyable within a relaxed environment. There will be a range of topics to try to improve everyone’s confidence in speaking French along with a small task to do after each session.

Short Walks Group - Walk once a month, intend to increase this to twice a month. The walking distance is 3 to 5 miles and they try to visit beautiful locations in our area. This does mean some hills but they do also look for walks that are flat. A detailed description is always circulated beforehand to allow members to make up their minds about joining in.

Dance for Joy - Dance for Joy starts up again on the 19th of March at Freehay.  This is an all inclusive group, meaning there’s no steps to learn, but not disco. Any ability level is very welcome! Dance is incredibly good for our mind, body and soul.

Drama Group - The drama group are performing their new play for the Tuesday Lunch Club on 11th March at Denstone Village Hall.

Folk band - The numbers in our happy group of traditional musicians “The Weasels” has expanded to a point where we had outgrown our venue at Draycott and will move to Dilhorne Recreation centre. Tickets for our Barn Dance on Saturday June 28th are selling fast and will be on sale at the March Coffee morning. Priced at a modest £5 with under 16s free. The Weasels are also booked to play in Ipstones  for a fundraising Barn Dance in aid of church funds on Saturday June 7th.

Gardening Group -  First meeting will be on March 28th

Oxford Day Trip - 10 April 2025 There are still some seats available.

The Songbirds -  A new group starting Thursday March 6th aimed at anyone who loves to sing, this isn't a formal choir, but a group of like minded people sharing something fun.

Strum and Sing - The group met for the first time on the 13th February in the Guild Hall.  A mix of guitars and ukuleles blended well with enthusiastic singing. Next session is Thursday March 13th
