For the last 11 years, the Cheadle and District Foodbank has been assisting and supporting the

residents of Cheadle and nearby areas when they need it the most. Over this period, they have distributed approximately 112 tons of food to individuals, families, and children in urgent need of assistance.

One area where people may face challenges is food insecurity. This involves concerns about depleting their food supplies without the means to replenish them, the inability to purchase sufficient food, and experiencing a day without eating due to food shortages. These situations indicate a crisis where assistance from a local food bank would be beneficial. The crisis may not be ongoing; it could be a one-time occurrence during particularly difficult times. School holidays can be especially challenging for families who struggle to afford the food usually provided to children during the school term. Whenever someone is in crisis and urgently needs food, remember that the Foodbank can offer support.

It's hard to believe that this is still a much-needed service in 2025, but whilst that need remains, Cheadle Foodbank volunteers will continue to do what they can to help everyone in Cheadle who needs it. The Foodbank operates from the Cheadle Guildhall on Wednesdays between 9:30 am

and 11:00 am and Fridays between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm. During these hours, there is also a

free and confidential Citizens Advice service available, providing support and advice to clients

on any money, budgeting, or energy issues. Addressing these issues can alleviate pressure on a person's budget, which can, in turn, assist with their food-related challenges. The service operates on an appointment basis, and appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Foodbank

People shouldn't be afraid or embarrassed when they attend. The volunteers are very empathetic to everyone who comes through the door.

The Foodbank is forever grateful to the people of Cheadle, Morrisons, Asda, The Cheadle NetworkIN Group based at Daisybank, Moorland HomeLink, other businesses and organisations, the churches, schools and GP Surgeries for their continued help and support. Without this support the food bank wouldn’t be able to help everyone who comes in. To find out what is needed each week we publish our list of urgently required items on our Facebook and web pages and regularly in COGNEWS.
