Claire's Community Pantry

Free Membership - Open to All in Need - Serving Local People

The team at Claire's Community Pantry is delighted to have completed their planned move indoors and is now located on the High Street in Cheadle at number 42 High Street, Cheadle ST10 1AF to be precise.

They are open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm.

They have dropped "corner" from their name, becoming Claire's Community Pantry. Claire's is named in honour of a beloved local resident, so don't expect to see the namesake Claire in the store. Although there might be any number of Claires volunteering or visiting the pantry!

The community pantry provides a halfway house between the food bank and supermarkets for those who're struggling to pay for their weekly shop. There are many people struggling with their finances across the country and community pantries, like Claire's, provide a way to help people get through hard times.

Visiting Claire's can be on a regular basis or for just a single visit. Membership is free, and it's easy to do with no excessive information taken by the team only to be rejected and feel even worse about your circumstances. Instead, Claire's offers local residents a pleasant space to shop, providing a helping hand back to financial stability where and when it's needed and often has treat items which might not normally fit your budget.

Should you like to help the team with their quest, you can pop in a donation, which they will use to stock the shop, or you can volunteer to help with their quest.

A top tip is that the pantry receives short date products from a local CO-OP, which they locate in a FREE Box so it's well worth popping in as often as you can!

No one should have to choose between paying a bill and buying dinner in modern Britain, and we applaud the efforts of this plucky team to help their neighbours with this difficult challenge.

According to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, in 2022/23, over 14.3 million people in the UK were living in poverty. This represents 21% of the UK population. The figure includes 8.1 million working-age adults, 4.3 million children, and 1.9 million pensioners.

Interesting fact: Community pantries can prevent food from going into landfills, which is where it would be destined if community pantries across the country didn't step in.
