The theme of the arts festival is Light and Dark, partly because there are many
interpretations of these words: Artistic, scientific and symbolic. We regularly associate
light and dark to our moods and levels of wellbeing. At this time of year we are aware of
nights drawing in, and did you know there is a supermoon* on October 17th?
How would you interpret Light and Dark? There are two competitions open to the public, so why not
enter and try and include your interpretation. The photographic competition is free to
enter, with categories for under 18s and adults – guidelines are on the Cheadle Arts Festival website. The children’s art competition also has age-related categories and is free to enter by taking
your picture along to Gelato & Cakes.
There will be a display of entries for public judging on 19th October in the Guild Hall, so be sure to come along, see how other people have interpreted the theme and be a judge too.
*A supermoon is a full moon that occurs when the moon is at its closest point to Earth, also known as perigee, in its orbit. The moon's orbit is elliptical, so the distance between the moon and Earth varies, and the exact point of perigee is not fixed.Â
