A lot has happened across Staffordshire's woodlands, heathlands, and heritage sites this year – and Staffordshire's countryside team has been at the heart of it.
Their hard work helps protect rare wildlife, care for our landscapes, and preserve Staffordshire’s rich history. Thanks to them, our countryside remains a beautiful and vibrant place for everyone to enjoy.

Here are just some of the highlights from this year:
2,390 trees planted
Around 97,500 trees surveyed
10,904 volunteer hours contributed – that’s a 29% increase on last year!
100 hectares of scrub managed on Cannock Chase, helping keep our heathlands open and healthy for special wildlife
4,200 marsh violets planted, supporting rare butterfly species
17 new bat boxes installed, adding more safe spaces for our native bats
41 new monuments and 203 new events added to the Staffordshire Historic Environment Record, protecting our heritage for the future
These achievements show just how much passion and dedication goes into caring for Staffordshire's countryside.
A big thank you to everyone involved – staff, volunteers, partners, and local residents who support the work.
