Another Luxury Car Stolen in Cheadle

Earlier this year, a BMW car was stolen from a driveway in Highfield Avenue near the junction with Froghall Road while the owners were asleep upstairs. A similar theft occurred in the same area on the 27th of August - is Cheadle being targeted?
Last night (27th August) during the small hours, what appears to be a copycat car crime occurred. Cheadle Town Councillor Dennis Wilson was asleep when his BMW M3 Sports car was stolen from his drive on Froghall Road. Cllr Wilson spoke to COGNEWS to make sure that people are aware of the risk and can take preventive action to protect their vehicles from being stolen if they need to.
The criminals broke through the rear of his home, professionally removing the euro-style lock that many of us have. They then spent time in the property to locate the keys to the BMW. This would not have been easy because they were well secured.
Cllr Wilson, on discovery of the theft the following morning, was able to track the vehicle on his mobile phone, and he thought that all he needed to do was drive to the location where the app indicated that his car was parked and recover the car.
The app recorded a location in Didcot, about a two and a half hours' drive from Cheadle. Upon arriving, Cllr Wilson saw that the car was not to be found despite the app recording the place as the location of the vehicle. Cllr Wilson (Denis) believes that Didcot was the location chosen by the criminals for disabling the vehicle's GPS. He's worked in the auto trade all his life and has vast knowledge about vehicles, so this came as a surprise to him.
The M3 was his pride and joy, representing years of hard work to purchase such a high-quality vehicle.
Both he and his wife are very distressed with the thought that criminals have been searching through their home and belongings while they slept upstairs.
Staffordshire police and forensics arrived the next day, taking evidence and documenting the crime. Any information about the theft of Dennis's car or information on the disabling of the GPS should be reported to the police.
