Officers and police dogs gearing up ahead of family open day
We’re putting the final touches together ahead of welcoming the local community into our headquarters for the first open day in five years.
This Sunday (15 September), people across Staffordshire will be able to meet the police officers, dogs, volunteers and emergency responders working hard to keep them safe each and every day across the county.
It’s a tradition that we’re really proud of and excited to finally start up again, with lots in store for everyone in the family to enjoy.
It takes place at our headquarters on Weston Road, Stafford, from 11am until 4pm, and entry is completely free.
If there’s any young aspiring police officers in the making in your family, they’ll be able to sit in a police car or on a motorbike, talk to the officers serving in their neighbourhoods and speak to the specialist teams about what they do each day to protect the public.
Our brave police dogs will also be there alongside their specially-trained handlers, including demonstrations on live incident scenarios, drills from our police cadets, arena performances, children’s activities and, of course, food and drink stalls.
Parking isn’t available on site, so we have arranged a park and ride service, costing £3, that can be purchased in advance of the event for families wanting to leave their vehicles at the Staffordshire County Showground. A double-decker bus will be running all day to bring visitors to and from each site.
It’s been really pleasing to see the level of interest we’ve already had from our communities after announcing the event last month. We hope to see as many people as possible there and for everyone to enjoy seeing what our brave officers and emergency responders do to make a difference in local communities.
We’d also like to recognise all of the sponsors that help make this event possible, including MMS Recovery, JPW Commercial, Softcat, Arnold Clark Car & Van Hire, Red Snapper Media, PSL Print and Kier.
