February Update from Cheadle Town Council

Councillor Gary Bentley said that the county council will be focusing on getting the potholes fixed, as well as addressing any highway issues.

Councillor Alan Thomas brought up the issue of the proposed new school on Froghall Road. Councillor Bentley said an email has been sent.

Councillor Vicky Wheeldon spoke about how the council is controlling the budget, but some increase is required.

The council welcomed three new councillors and received another resignation.

They will also be joining the local council award scheme, and some councillors want to go for silver and gold awards, while others prefer bronze awards. The earliest date would be 1st May.

A member of the public asked for support for a defibrillator from the council. The gentleman will raise the funds from a sponsored cycle ride (CogNews article to follow shortly). No decision was made.

The Guild Hall has been given a grant for furniture and repairs.

The council meetings and agendas are now available on the town council website at cheadletowncouncil.org.uk. Any member of the public can attend, and there is always a slot for the public to speak on an issue that concerns them.
