This week, a new shop opened on Cheadle's historic High Street. Situated in the old Mother Nature building, "Little Dots" specialises in beautiful fashion and toys for ages 0-6. We met with owner Samantha Rowley-Corns to find out more.

Samantha and some of her hand picked British Brands

Samantha started her business two and a half years ago, a retail store and play cafe in Stone, when her daughter was just 4 months old. She told our reporter that she was very much inspired by her. Samantha wanted to bring joyful clothes, toys, and accessories to Stone and used sustainable British brands, something which she's really passionate about.

She's now made the decision to wind down the cafe and concentrate on the retail and events side of her business. She's a local lady, who's passionate about regenerating Cheadle, so when her lease came to an end, she made the decision to support her hometown.

She told COGNEWS that she's still got lots to do at the new store, so expect to see more brands, fixtures, and handmade local goods. She's also renovating the back of the premises, which will become a community hub space where they will be inviting local groups to come and use it for mum's clubs, breastfeeding groups, etc.

The new space will also be used for their very successful character events, working with a local princess event company. They are a huge hit, and with low numbers, visitors get a really personal experience. Samantha told our reporter that "Sometimes it can be really intimidating for children to go to events where there are 40 or 50 other children, so I like to keep events really small, really personal."

The first event will take place on the 6th of June, and they are having an opening party which will include a princess event, a giveaway in-store, and free activities for the children.

Booking for the princess events can be done either in-store or on the website https://www.littledots.co.uk/. Places do sell out very quickly, and Samantha encourages people to book early. "Once visitors have been to an event, they come time and time again from the city, Uttoxeter, Baddley Green, and more," said Samantha.

We were then joined by Cheadle Mayor Phil Routledge and daughter, fellow councillor Zenobia Routledge. Phil officially welcomed Samantha and sister-in-law Georgia to the town, wishing them every success with the venture. The group chatted about how important sustainability is and, in particular, how important it is to leave a good legacy for our children and grandchildren. Having Little Dots on the doorstep will allow local families to make good choices not just for today but affecting the future too.

Samantha told us that "All clothing is organic cotton. Little Dots stocks clothing for 0-6 years but can order in larger sizes if people really like something. All British design and products with brands such as Kite, Toby Tiger, Blade & Rose, which are really popular, handmade designers including Roses & Angels with more on the way in the coming weeks, and Mini Cuddles too."

They have a range of prices, and clothing starts from £8. Accessories are all handmade, including handmade clips from a maker she met in Stone.

Opening hours will be Wednesday to Saturday 9:30 am - 4:30 pm. Once the hub is open, they will be hosting regular pottery painting and crafting events with themed crafting for the little ones.

Samantha explained that they always have a storybook-themed window display, and the current theme is Tiddler - so do see if you can spot him in the window when you're passing. They move on to the new theme to coincide with the launch party on the 6th of June. Visitors can expect to see crafting activities based around the theme too.
